Kangana Ranaut Revisits Controversial Remarks on Urmila Matondkar, Stands Firm in Defense

Revealing the reason behind boycotting award shows, Kangana Ranaut said that they refused to give her the award because she couldn't make it on time, as she was stuck in traffic. "Initially, you have this ideal notion of the system [but] I have had some very ugly experiences. Early on, I got dressed up for some award I don't remember. I was supposed to receive the award for supporting cast for Life In A Metro. I got stuck in traffic. I started getting calls asking 'where are you?'. The hysteria and panic that I experienced, I didn't make it and Soha (Ali Khan) got it for Rang De Basanti," the actress shared and added, "Imagine, the whole notion that you are somebody who is getting an award was shattered. I was late by some 10-15 minutes and I didn't get the award."
Clarifying the matter with an example, the Queen star said, "Your award should belong to you, the artiste. There was this entire discussion when Heath Ledger was to get an Oscar for The Dark Knight. You are felicitating a performance, not the person, how does it matter whether the artiste is alive or not?” Kangna also revealed another incident when she was busy attending a screenwriting course in the United States in 2014; she was contacted by Filmfare and was asked to return for a day to accept her award for Krrish 3. When she couldn’t make it, she claims, they decided to give the award to Supriya Pathak for Ram Leela, instead.
