PEMRA issues notice to local TV channels

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has advised all Sindhi-language TV channels not to portray Sindhis as “extremists and miscreants”. The regulator has also advised them to respect the code of conduct agreed upon in 2015 and refrain from promoting themes and subjects that glorify violence in Sindhi plays.

A press release from the department added, “All Sindhi channels are, therefore, advised to give consideration to the viewers’ apprehensions and review the theme of their dramas, keeping in view the provisions of Electronic Media Code of Conduct and cultural values of the society.”

Na Maloom Afraad duo – director Nabeel Qureshi and producer Fizza Ali Meerza – has released details of their next film, titled Load Wedding, which will feature their favourite pair Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat. The actors have previously starred together in Nabeel and Fiza's debut film Na Maloom Afraad and their last venture Actor In Law as well. Nabeel has revealed that Samina Peerzada will also star in his upcoming venture. He promises that the film will be different from their previous work because it's a "different script, different genre altogether". The film is slated for an Eid ul Azha release next year.

Nadia Khan opens up about leaving her morning show persona behind

Nadia, who is most known for her animated and bubbly on-screen persona as a morning show host, is starring in a TV drama called Kaisi Aurat Ho Tum in which she plays the protagonist Maham, a working woman who financially supports her husband Moiz (played by Faisal Rehman). "I am making a return to TV after a break of over 17 years. I've matured a lot during this time," she said and revealed, "You're not going to see the same old morning show wali Nadia."

Explaining the complexity of her character, Nadia shared, "Maham loves her husband so much that she is unable to see how conniving he is and how he is exploiting her." She chose this role because she “wanted to do something different, so the image Nadia has in people's minds is reshaped”, and she gets a chance to be "taken seriously".
