Eye-lashes freeze in Russia’s extreme winter spell

What’s trending!

The world is busy sparing a thought for the residents of a Russian village Oymyakon, as temperatures there have dropped to as low as -62°C, cold enough to freeze people’s eyelashes, while a broken digital thermometer is witness to this historical event.

The official weather station at the ‘pole of cold’ registered minus 59°C, but locals of the village stated their readings were as low as minus 67°C – less than 1°C of the lowest accepted temperature for a permanent settlement throughout the world, which was also recorded in the same village in 1933.

Meanwhile, the photo of a girl demonstrating snow resting on her eyelashes following extreme cold has gone viral, as she is seen having the time of her life along with her friends in the freezing cold.
