From Superstars To Superheroes!

GAL GADOT AS WONDER WOMAN:

Let’s get real: Gadot’s Wonder Woman was definitely the highlight of the Justice League series. She managed to capture the very essence of our favourite superhero by being funny, mysterious and super tough, all at the same time! Besides, watching her miss-handle those villains was a sheer treat.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE AS MYSTIQUE:

Her performance in X-men: First Class was first class, to say the least. Lawrence sure makes the character her own with her make-believe acting paired with her kickass getup (her make-up artist deserves a big shout-out here). That Oscar she won already had her name written all over it.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON AS BLACK WIDOW:

Initially introduced more as an eye candy than a superhero in Iron Man 2, Scarlett’s character has certainly grown gradually but what a growth it has been. She outshines all other Avengers with her skillful acting and bravado so much so that her fans are now rooting for a Black Widow spin-off. And who knows, they might just get their wish granted this year.

HUGH JACKMAN AS WOLVERINE/ LOGAN:

Hugh Jackman is that modern superhero benchmark that others can only aspire to become. With his complete ownership of the superhero character, so much that we cannot tell where the comic book starts and the actor ends, Hugh J. nails an Oscar-worthy performance we are all still very much in awe of.

CHRIS EVANS AS CAPTAIN AMERICA:

O captain, my captain! Who could have guessed that the Captain America trilogy would beat the three Iron Man movies? Not only did Evans embody the morality and physicality of the Avenger but also proves that he is truly a star in his star-spangled avatar.

RYAN REYNOLDS AS DEADPOOL:

First impressions are not the last impressions. Case in point: Ryan Reynolds’ cameo appearance on the silver screen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But he set the screen on fire in 2016’s Deadpool, with a splendid performance that not only contributed to his meteoric rise to the A-list but also bagged him tons of major awards nominations. We can’t wait to see him win one, although we do believe that an award win is not a real reflection of one’s true efforts. Maximum, in Reynold’s case.

CHRISTIAN BALE AS BATMAN:

The Caped Crusader is probably the most played superhero of all times, but who truly fleshes the heart and soul of him is Christian Bale. Not only does he successfully channel the ferociousness of Batman but also his non-caped version, Bruce Wayne, making the two identities of the same person as distinct as day and night (sorry, we love clichés). Dark, mysterious and gritty, Bale sets the bar high for other superhero movies.

CHRISTOPHER REEVE AS SUPERMAN:

There are many who played the classic comic book superhero but it was Christopher Reeve who put the stamp on it. He did not just sell special effects but brought out the humanity and kindness that were pivotal characteristics of Superman. Christopher was magic himself and he certainly did fly.

MELISSA BENOIST AS SUPERGIRL:

It was not easy to find the right girl for the cape, but Melissa Benoist proved it to be cut for her. Took a while for her to convince others that she really could fly but boy, did she leave an impression. Seeing a female superhero with the same powers as her male counterpart was what the comic book aficionados long wanted and Benoist surely satisfies them in satisfaction’s truest form.

GRANT GUSTIN AS FLASH:

Gustin’s character as Flash in the CW series is instantly likeable. He exudes that do-gooder aura that his role demands and is both sweet and warm. His take on Flash makes other superheroes look bad as they all seem too dark, angry and egoistic in comparison. Wait… is that even possible? We can’t tell for sure but what we can tell is that Gustin was certainly a breath of fresh air in the superheroes’ league.
