The Tinak Dhin Ad Good Idea, But…!

Slotting a current pop hit at the head of a new ad, and then casting two famous TV and film stars, who’ve been accepted by the audiences as a good pair is an above average concept. Though it all depends on spending big, too.

After Meesha Shafi starred famously in the famous Punjabi hit on Anjuman, titled Sohniya Coca-Cola pila de, another beverage commercial has revived the tradition of casting film stars on television, with a popular song that could become its title number like Chai peejiyay, Kon Si Janab, with Nirala and Rozina that was a hot-dog hit that ran for decades. In this beverage advert, the film stars are Mahira Khan and Shehryar Munawwar. And the title song is Coke Studio’s super hit of 2017, Tinak dhin, sung by Ali Hamza, Ali Sethi, and Waqar Ehsin. As expected, the ad is doing the rounds on the cute box! Good thinking, indeed!

The ad is pertinent, because the release date is approaching this year, of Saat Din Mohabbat In, which stars Mahira and Munawwar. As I said, bull’s eye!

But, are they making a series of ads? That may be even better. Why not link them as parts of a story?
