Your Spring Manual 2018

Here’s what to stock your spring-/summer wardrobe with to soar through the season fashionably.

To say sequins and sparkles will be a big deal this summer is an understatement. In every fashion capital, glitter prevailed, starting with international showcases by Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Dior and Chanel to our local ones last year. Style statement pieces like shoes and bags with semi casual separates to give them daytime longevity.

Whether lilac, pink, lemon or duck egg blue, expect to see an array of fashion's prettiest shades this season, like every year. Consider tailoring in ice cream hues in your looks or wearing them in unexpected ways. Get inspiration from runways and your favourite style bloggers and celebrities.

It looks as if checks are going nowhere for the season ahead. If you are feeling adventurous, go for voluminous pieces, or choose a more traditional appeal with shirts. Anyone looking for floaty feminine styles should turn to bright and summer-ready pieces. To follow this trend and yet appear different, incorporate this in shoes and bags.

Ruffles are sure to add a feminine air to womenswear yet again this season, with designers all around the globe incorporating them in their respective shows. And honestly, we are not complaining. A little flair never hurt anyone.

Cinderella shoes

If next season's glitzy sequinned ready-to-wear is too much for you, then perhaps a sparkling Cinderella shoe is an alternative. Style your feminine floaty dresses with socks and glittery footwear, some with a more pronounced heel. It should be noted that socks and shoes are making a comeback too.

Bold colour

This summer will be very bright indeed if the catwalks are anything to go by. The recent fashion shows have been awash with vibrant, bold shades to suit every colouring.

Fringing has made a surprise comeback this season. It’s surprising because we usually see an overload of this detail in autumn. But fringe shoes and bags have already been doing rounds for some time and they will be experimented with even more in the fashion weeks to come, so if you see a fringe piece that you like, grab it!
