The headturners and headshakers from Nykaa Femina Beauty Awards 2018

The 4th Nykaa Femina Beauty Awards 2018, held at the JW Marriot in Juhu, Mumbai, has ridden us all into a deep fashion comatose. The awards were a stupendous collaboration of Nykaa.com and Femina. MAG gets its fashion critic spectacles on as we run a censorious eye on who was serving the best style quotient and who failed to deliver the right oomph on the red carpet

Dressed up to the nines – the head-turners of the night

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

One might insist that Aishwarya has been flaunting way too much of the princess-esque attire choices and hum-drum repetitions of the flowing silhouettes, but as long as she’s doing her signature look right, we don’t mind. Clad in a princess gown from Kuwait fashion house, she looked like a vision.

Aditi Rao Hydari

In an ode to true royalty, came prancing in Aditi Rao Hydari; who’s a royal both off-screen and onscreen (you should see her in Padmaavat!). Doing justice to a Shriya Som gown, Aditi seemed to be emanating a pearly glow from within. The lilac gown was studded with precious Swarovski stones and had ostrich feather accents.

Disha Patani

If looks could kill, Disha Patani almost had everyone on the red carpet. Donning on a gold sequined Manish Malhotra ensemble, playing with some flirtatious sheer and net tailings, Disha looked stunning. Despite carrying a partially sheer gown, the actress looked poised and not one bit raunchy.

Rekha

The veteran actress, with her signature red maang, beautiful silk sari and a perfectly pinned bun had our hearts. Makes us say a prayer in unison; may all of us age as gracefully as Rekha.

Red Carpet Fails

Zareen Khan

Make-up goes a long way in adding the ‘terrible’ or the ‘terrific’ to your entire look. Zareen wore a House of Eda ensemble and opted for peachy lips and bold eyes. Our condolences to your make-up game Zareen; it is literally struggling to compliment your outfit.

Arjun Kapoor

There weren’t many spectacular male appearances at the awards show. Arjun Kapoor was dressed in an electric blue suit from the Boss team, paired with a white shirt from Brook Brothers. The colour has miserably failed to compliment the actor’s frame.

Kiara Advani

Poofy princess gowns are pretty, but they aren’t made for everyone. And definitely not for Kiara, it seems. It might have looked marginally bearable had it been a different colour, but the questionable pairing of sheer; an aqua corset and tulle skirt has us shaking our heads.

Malaika Arora

Malika is usually seen supporting attires that sculpt her petite body. She walked the red carpet in a royal blue gown by the Milan designer Antonia Riva. Maybe it’s the choice of make-up that is failing to add the needed oomph we usually have for Malaika. We don’t say she’s dressed bad, we’d say we expected better!
