iOS users aren’t short of music making apps to satisfy their chart-topping ambitions. For kids, much of this software can prove overwhelming but not Bandimal. The delightful app allows you to compose catchy loops that always sound great, while watching cartoon beasties hopping to the beat. Fire up a new composition and an animal appears in the first track. You can then set a note in each of the eight slots to sound when the play head moves over it. Swipe the animal away and you get another. There are no ads so you can never get anything wrong, and it’s just endlessly entertaining to watch an electro panda’s eyes pop out every time it makes a noise. You don’t get that with GarageBand. Sadly, the app is available on iOS only.
