Mahira makes us proud in the UK

Mahira Khan must be on cloud nine! She flew to London recently to attend the UK Asian Film Festival that ran from 14-25 March. The actress was presented the Contribution to Film and Activism Award at the opening ceremony. Humbled as always, Mahira dedicated the award to her son, Azlan. Clad in a deconstructed Elan sari, the Raees star expressed her gratitude after receiving the award. “Thank you. I’m going to keep it short,” she laughed and continued, “If my son is being overlooked (because of my work), I always ask [him] about what should I say? Should I thank you? And he would always respond, ‘Please don’t thank me.’ So, I hope someone is recording this!”

Noor launches her YouTube channel

She may have left the glitzy world of entertainment but looks like Noor Bukhari is not done making headlines quite just yet. The former actress announced her departure from filmdom post her divorce from Wali Hamid ali Khan, her third husband. Following the stint, she also declared that she has turned to religion. Recently, a hijab-clad Noor shared a video on her official YouTube channel stating that she will be posting on the forum regularly. “On this channel, I will be sharing my experiences with you. I will also be taking you on a journey of my transformation – which is how I turned towards religion from being an actor,” expressed the 35-year-old in the clip. Noor also said that she would connect with her fans and solve their problems from what she has learnt in life so far.

Areeba Habib all set for TV debut with Imran Abbas

Model Areeba Habib is gearing up for the next step in her career.

She will be starring in upcoming drama Koi Chaand Rakh Meri Shaam Par, which will be her TV drama debut alongside Imran Abbas.

The 18-20 episode drama is a love story "where there is a bit of a love triangle scenario but we do end up together, not without struggles of course,” shared Areeba.

"I really like the story and I think it's perfect for my debut as it gives me enough margin to prove to people that I'm not just a model and can handle acting," said she.

About her character, she said, "My character is a very lively happy girl, the kind that lives in her own world. She's from a well-off family and gets whatever she wants but she's also independent and her parents let her make her own choices. She's known to be very beautiful and everyone around her is always saying it."

Ayeza Khan will play her older sister in the drama and according to Areeba, “she is lovely to work with.”

“I've said no to so many film and TV projects in the past two years so I really want to do my best in this drama to prove my choice was correct. I am having fun so far though."

Does this mean Areeba is making the switch from model to actor?

"I'm not giving up modelling! I want to continue to do both. Even now, I just got a break from shooting the drama so I'm going to head out to Lahore for fashion week," said Areeba.

God’s Plan by Drake

This single by Drake begins at the very top. The track secured a position on Billboard’s Hot 100 list after a not-so-long silence from Drake, and managed to propel into the chart’s top slot with over 82.4 million streams during the very first week, which was in itself a record.

In the song, Drake uses the phrase God’s plan to tell people about the trajectory of his own life, which has his fans and listeners engrossed in the tune. After all, it’s Drake!

PEEK-A-BOO
Lashkara looks promising

For the drama industry, this year has started on a rather good note. With the exceptional amount of dramas going on-air on different channels is indeed astounding, however, what amazes us the most is the good quality of content viewers are getting to see. In the midst of so many dramas with good storytelling on our radar, we’ve spotted this rather intriguing teaser of Lashkara, which stars Ushna Shah, Imran Ashraf and Mohsin Abbas Haider as its lead. Set in interior Lahore, the drama’s teaser gives off the vibe of a different story which has a pretty artistic feel to it. Kashif Nisar’s direction looks impressive and the script written by Zafar Mairaj gives us another reason to anticipate the start of this serial. We’re so looking forward to this!

LAUGH OUT LOUD!

A police officer pulls over a motorist for speeding along a deserted highway. “Do you know how fast you were going?” he asks.

“Sorry officer,” says the driver. “I was trying to keep up with traffic.”

“There is no traffic,” says the officer.

“That’s how far behind I am.”
