Pakistan to exhibit records of Bhagat Singh’s trial as historical documents

Government of Pakistan has decided to display the case file of the trail of Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh among several other documents for the first time. It was decided during a meeting of Punjab’s top bureaucrats, presided by chief secretary Zahid Saeed. The meeting declared activist Singh as a “hero of both, India and Pakistan”

When speaking to the press, an official of the Punjab Government said, “The meeting decided that Bhagat Singh was the Independence movement hero of both, India and Pakistan. The people of the country have the right to know about his (Singh) and his comrades’ great struggle to get freedom from the British Raj.”

The exhibition is scheduled to take place at the Anarkali tomb in Lahore which is home to the Punjab Archive Department. The exhibition will also display letters Singh wrote to his father, declarations of him and other prisoners as political prisoners, newspapers, books, as well as records of the hotels where Singh and other prisoners stayed while they were underground.
