Apple’s red iPhone 8 is designed for a cause

Apple's new red-coloured iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are more than just a bright new shade to match your outfit. The new iPhones are part of (Product) RED, and a portion of every sale goes directly to the non-profit, The Global Fund, to help fight HIV and AIDS.

Since it partnered up with (RED) in 2006, Apple has contributed over $160 million to the Global Fund – $30 million of which was added last year after launching the (Product) Red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus – making the tech giant the largest contributor to the Global Fund.

Uber looks beyond cars, heads towards bike-sharing service

The ride-hailing company recently said that it has bought Jump Bikes, a New York-based firm that operates in 40 US cities. But the statement did not disclose any financial terms of the deal.

AlterEgo – a device that silently converses with your inner voices

Researchers at the MIT Media Lab have created a wearable gadget that transcribes and responds to conversations users have with themselves in their heads. Creepy yet innovative! Isn’t it?

Comprised of a wearable device and a small computing system, AlterEgo enables users to silently converse with a computing device without talking or making any recognisable movements. By vocalising internally, the user can communicate with other devices, the internet, AI assistants or applications to receive certain information, or make commands.

The developers of AlterEgo hope that this will fuse these digital interfaces into human personalities as a ‘second self’.
