UN medal posthumously presented to seven Pakistani peacekeepers

The United Nations has posthumously honoured seven Pakistani peacekeepers, who were martyred for the sake of global peace and security, with the UN medal in New York recently. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Secretary General of UN, Antonio Guterres, who was the chief guest on the occasion and praised the Pakistanis who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

As far as UN peace keeping missions are concerned, Pakistan stands as one of the largest troop contributing country. At least 156 Pakistani blue helmets have so far embraced martyrdom while serving under UN’s supervision. The seven honoured members include Qaiser Abbas, Hazrat Bilal, Muhammad Ishtiaq Abbasi, Yasir Abbas, Zishan Ahmed, Attaur Rehman and Abdul Ghafoor.
