Kristen the rebel

Twilight actress Kristen Stewart, who is serving on the predominately-female Cannes Film Festival jury, took off her heels on the red carpet recently. The actress, who was attending the premiere of BlacKkKlansman, was seen wearing an embellished outfit, which she complemented with towering black stilettos. But as she posed for the shutterbugs for pictures, she removed her stilettos and walked barefoot on the red carpet. Since the Cannes Film Festival has a 'no flats' policy, which has been criticised in the past for being sexist, many believe Kristen's gesture is her way of protesting against the rule. Fans even took to social media to applaud this act of rebellion.

In the past, Kristen has been vocal about the policy. At a roundtable discussion, she had said, "There’s definitely a distinct dress code. People get very upset at you if you don’t wear heels or whatever. I feel like you can’t ask that anymore, but it’s still a given. If you’re not asking guys to wear heels and a dress then you can’t ask me either."
