The Anarkali of Aarah’s metamorphosis into a glamorous Veer is pretty jaw-dropping and will make you go, really Swara?
Playing the quintessential, small-town roles which eat at bigger social-related issues, Swara has truly proven her mettle as an actress. However, we couldn’t say the same about her fashion sensibility, until Veere Di Wedding’s release marched in and convinced us so.

2015: Blast from the past!

Well, well… we are definitely not a fan of the unconditioned tresses set loose around these questionable golden hoops. The make-up is as unflattering as it can be, so is the choice of attire.

2016: And it’s pretty much downhill from here…

How many votes for this look? She definitely doesn’t have ours. We are all for desi attires, but the colours, silhouette and cut of this one is swallowing Swara here, even making her look marginally older. The bulbous jhumkay fail to save the look.

To be fair, the block printed sari wasn’t entirely a poor choice, only if it was draped and accessorised differently. Smoky eyes, a red pout and sleek open hair could have been the saving grace of the look, but alas…

And we saved the worst for last. That’s Swara making a public appearance in a brocade sari, bad make-up and a fish braid gone awry. We notice how she inclines more towards eastern ensemble in a pre-Veere universe, which is almost belligerently at par with her appearance after the film released in 2018.

2017: Veere in making

This was a year of fashion awakening for Swara and also for climbing the ladder to more commercial releases.

Here’s the actress essaying the role of an erotic dancer in her film Anarkali of Aarah. We are glad this is a costume and not one of her chosen choices of attire or we’d be running for the streets. Not so fashion friendly, is it now, Swara?

Ah, we are getting there now; here is some improvement, Swara clad in a figure-hugging coral gown at the 3rd Nykaa Femina Beauty Awards 2017. We wished she had ditched those accessories though, which are more tacky than blingy.

2018: All behold, the Veere

Seems like Swara vowed not to let the Kapoor glamour overshadow her. We’d let the pictures do the talking.

And BAMN! Looking stunning in an Atelier Zuhra couture dress, stands Swara, knocking the breath out of us (with disbelief and awe).

This isn’t Photoshop; the girl really did kill it! We are floored by the dramatic eyes and that bold lip.

The good old monochrome card is played here too well. Loving those killer eyes adorned with winged eyeliner.

You, Swara Bhaskar, have officially won the award for most dramatic style evolution our times have seen. We know what this smug smile is about, Veere.

Can we all give a chorus of approval over this eastern ensemble pulled off greatly? There is a way to make eastern work in your favour, and Swara is acing it.
