Growing up in Cincinnati, Sarah Jessica Parker never left the house without a book. “My mom’s rule even before we could read,” she says. Now the star, 53, has parlayed that passion into her own publishing imprint, SJP Books for Hogarth; her first acquisition, Fatima Farheen Mirza’s debut novel, A Place for Us, is just out. The story of an American Muslim family torn between heritage and modernity, the book spoke to Parker, she says, because “I had never read a book about this family, which is also about a lot of families. And it’s beautifully told.”
