The world’s first fee-free university – Akhuwat University (AU) – will start its operations in Pakistan from August 14 this year. With 600 students already enrolled, the university is going to be a one of a kind institute to offer free education to the needy in the country and the students can pay their fees whenever they are able to do so. The university’s administration believes that education is the ultimate solution to all the problems of Pakistan.

Dr Amjad Saqib the executive director of AU said that the university will run on the basis of long-term Qarz-e-Hasna. It is currently offering pre-engineering, pre-medical and ICT courses and to be able to gain entry into the college, a student must obtain 75 per cent marks in their matriculation examination.
