David Beckham

Major Leaguer

Born on May 2, 1975, in London, England, David Robert Joseph Beckham started playing soccer after he signed a professional contract with popular football club Manchester United (MUFC), and made his first ever appearance in 1992 at the age of 17. The talented goal scorer was named the Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year in 1997. A year later, he was one of the leading faces of England's World Cup team.

In 2003, Beckham left MUFC and signed a contract with Real Madrid. Beckham was part of the England football team as its captain in the World Cup that took place in Germany in 2006; and stood down from his post after England was out from the race to win the coveted trophy.

Beckham’s personal life has always remained in the limelight, for his marriage in 1999 to pop star Victoria Adams of Spice Girls fame was an event that left both their fans jubilant. The couple has four children – three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, and a daughter, Harper.
