ABOUT NIAGARA FALLS
The Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls are the three main waterfalls that form the amazing Niagara Falls. Each one of them is striking in their own way; however, the largest is still the Horseshoe Falls. Both the American and Bridal Veil Falls throw about 160,000 gallons of water flow, while the Horseshoe Falls throws in approximately 600,000 gallons each second. Located on the Canadian side, the latter gets its name following its shape of a horse shoe. The American falls were named after a party of American trappers whose boat went over the falls and the Bridal Veil Falls – the smallest among the three – is named for its appearance that resembles a bride’s veil.

Niagara falls isn’t all about enjoying the view from above. If you’re an adventure buff and want to explore the Falls up close, all you need to do is hop onboard the Maid of the Mist and you will literally explore the roar.
It is the 20 minutes cruise and goes close to all three of the waterfalls (the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Horseshoe Falls) that make up Niagara Falls.
The boat tour will take you on an excursion into the basin of Niagara Falls State Park’s Horseshoe Falls. It is indeed a favourite Niagara Falls State Park attraction for more than 150 years and its journey kick-starts at the Observation Tower, where tourists are gifted a recyclable souvenir rain poncho to wear and keep their clothing dry, and board the double-deck tour boat. Then, the boat moves past the base of the American Falls, and from thereon, it goes onto the basin of Horseshoe Falls – a dramatic passage that leads you through the roiling waterfall whitewater and massive rock formations. One gets to experience the extraordinary tour that can only be described as awe-inspiring. The tour then brings one back with pristine appreciation of the grandeur and power of the great Niagara Falls.
When to board the Maid of the Mist
The boat tour runs from April to October each year, which majorly depends on the region’s weather conditions.
