Donkeys wear trousers to combat flies. In certain parts of the world, such as Canada and France, donkeys are given custom-made trousers to wear to stop flies from biting their legs.

At the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada, volunteer Sheila Zanyk made one of their donkeys a pair of fashionable trousers to prevent his legs getting hurt throughout the summer season.

Speaking to CTV News.ca, she said: "It took a few tries but it's working well now."

The donkey, whose name is Ben, struggled at first after being frightened by the sound of Velcro - but he soon adapted and now has two pairs of chic trousers.

Sheila added, "The first time we put them on him, he was really proud of himself. He walked around the whole barnyard – just 'look at me, look at me.'"
