At New York Fashion Week this year, statement earrings stole the show at Oscar de la Renta and Prabal Gurung, while at Diane von Furstenberg they were accompanied by beaded pendants and chunky charm bracelets. In London, the jewellery was overwhelmingly pretty, with sparkling barrettes at Simone Rocha, chandelier earrings at Burberry and, at Rejina Pyo, sculptural pieces inspired by the work of Alexander Calder. Meanwhile at Milan Fashion Week, the maximalist mood extended to the jewellery, with pearl-encrusted tiaras at Dolce & Gabbana and heavy logo necklaces at Gucci. Paris topped the bill with the most spectacular jewellery of all – ornate necklaces at Saint Laurent, chunky rings at Chloé and water droplet earrings at Chanel, which echoed the cascading waterfalls that bordered the catwalk.
