The best time to quit is the right time but for former Bollywood leading man Dharmendra, it seems that quitting is out of the question. He continues to act in roles that are not suitable for him to appear in with his two sons Sunny and Bobby Deol. The third part of Yamla Pagla Deewana proves just that the formula they think might work, doesn’t work at all. No matter how high-tech plot they might come up with, the fact remains that until and unless the script is good, you can’t fool the audience in the name of a family reunion.

The film reunites Shatrughan Sinha (guest appearance as a judge) and Dharmendra after a long time but even that doesn’t save the film from sinking. With Sunny and Bobby playing brothers and Dharmendra their paying guest who seems to like talking to dead women, there was never anything in the plot to intrigue the audience. Kriti Kharbanda gives a better performance but that’s because she looks good in front of the Deols.

There is hardly anything memorable about the film except a couple of jokes here and there; the first half ends with Bobby Deol trying to impress Kriti’s character Chikoo while the next one deals with a court hearing. The only time the audience seemed to wake up for a couple of minutes was when Sunny Deol stopped a moving truck with his bare hands. Sadly, the combined power of the three Deols couldn’t stop the moving audience (out of the theatre) and one hopes they don’t reunite again for the sake of their fans who are sick of being disappointed, phir se! •
