B-town celebs who became the newsmakers of 2018

2018 has been a great year for B-town celebrities. From three top actresses – Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor getting married, and Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt making their relationship official to the Padmaavat controversy and #MeToo movement, there were a lot of hits and misses in 2018.

Tanushree Dutta

After a hiatus, Tanushree Dutta returned to India and for good. The #MeToo movement gained momentum in India after the actress opened up about the sexual harassment she faced eight years back at the hands of actor Nana Patekar. After Tanushree sharing her ordeal, other actresses also opened up about their sufferings which exposed a lot of men in the industry.

Deepika-Ranveer and Priyanka-Nick

This bit needs no introduction. #DeepVeer and #Nickyanka's weddings were undoubtedly the highlights of 2018. The pictures and videos from their many pre-wedding and post-wedding festivities set the internet on fire. And for a good number of days, Deepika-Ranveer and Priyanka-Nick's weddings were the talk of the town.

Khans

The three Khans who have been ruling Bollywood for decades certainly did not have a great year. Starting with Salman Khan, the actor's action-drama film, Race 3, did not do well at the box office, followed by Aamir Khan's major debacle with Thugs Of Hindostan and finally, Shah Rukh Khan's Zero which is currently sailing in the same boat.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt

2018 has been exceptionally good for Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on the professional as well as personal fronts. The two made their relationship official this year and individually delivered blockbusters. After a series of average films, the Kapoor lad gave a path-breaking performance in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju. Similarly, Alia gave her career’s best performance with Meghna Gulzar's Raazi, for which she even won an award recently.

Surprise hits

B-town witnessed many lows in 2018 but at the same time, there were highs that need a mention. This year, the films which one may have thought would not work, did wonders with audiences and at the ticket windows. Badhaai Ho, 102 Not Out, Andha Dhun and Stree are some of the movies that surprised with the content.

Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan

These three millennials were welcomed with open arms in the industry. While Ishaan and Janhvi stepped into Bollywood with Dhadak, Sara Ali Khan, on the other hand, made a debut opposite Sushant Singh Rajput with Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath.
