Seasonal hair colour trends tend to revolve around subtle nuances such as a move from dirty blondes to creamy blondes, or cool browns to warm. But for the season, a spectrum of the prettiest pastels have made it to the forefront.

Lust for Pastels

Pastels are here to stay in the fashion and editorial world, and it is forecasted that we will be seeing more of the sophisticated pastels being more widely adopted, with antique peaches and pale denim blues over the more expected pinks and mauves as a natural progression of the trend.

Khloe Kardashian’s icy pink

Just in time for Christmas, Khloé changed up her hair once again, this time adding a pink tint over the top of her icy blonde shade. The subtle, yet extremely striking, new look takes Khloé's blonde hair in the best direction as she heads toward 2019. If you've ever been tempted to dye your hair an unexpected shade, then Khloé's pink hair could be just the inspiration you need to make your own change before this year comes to a close.

Noomi Rapace’s ice-cream hues

Noomi Rapace stepped out with both pastel pink and peach hairstyles this January, pairing the latter with a baby-pink suit to tonal, ice-cream-hued effect.

The soft pastel tones were perfectly complemented by the exaggeratedly feminine up-dos created by Guido Palau for the catwalk, which brought to mind the dreamy aesthetic and sky-high hairstyles of Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film, Marie Antoinette. With the colour and the couture-shaped hair-dos, people loved the idea that it was exuberant and fun and colourful, but still chic and beautiful.

Hailey Bieber’s bubblegum pink

Following the footsteps of Khloe Kardashian, Hailey started 2019 with a brand new look. Photographed heading into a hair salon in Los Angeles on Friday, Hailey emerged with an eye-catching, bright pink, long bob. This isn't the first time that Hailey has rocked pink hair, either. Back at the Met Gala in May 2018, before she'd even rekindled her romance with Justin Bieber, let alone married him, Hailey debuted a wavy pink bob with a flower crown.

Lady Gaga’s periwinkle blue

Learn it from Lady Gaga at the Golden Globes. What better hairstyle to complement her Disney-esque Valentino Couture gown than a princess-worthy up-do in the same shade of periwinkle blue?

There was an escapism, a bit of a dream about how she pulled it off. It is funny how women are very excited by hair colour now, and how it can be worn.

Cardi B’s electric blue hair

If there's one thing we've learned from Cardi B's breakout year – besides the fact that she knows how to make chart-topping hits, of course – is that she has fun when it comes to experimenting with her look. From rainbow hair to crystal studs on the eyelids, she's proven that she's willing to step outside of the box when it comes to beauty.

And if you have any doubts about the trickle-down effect of the trend, you need only to look to the Instagram accounts of those most influential of influencers. Kylie Jenner opted for a sea-blue hue earlier this month, immortalised in her latest Kylie Beauty campaign.

That’s the beauty of this trend: it doesn’t have to be forever. With today’s colour technology, you can be Awkward Peach one week and Gaga Periwinkle (it’s officially hers, now) the next. The only difficult decision is which end of the rainbow to start with.
