Take a leaf out of Wonder Woman’s book. Throw on a cape and wielding asophisticated and faultlessly on-trend look. Join the league of caped crusaders, with the likes of Mahira Khan, Zara Noor Abbas and Fahmeen Ansari. Time is now to invest in what is set to be season’s one of the most attention grabbing fashion pieces.

Of Disguises

Capes have been featured in various disguises through out the season. The bell-shaped or drape-style outerwear has been revamped and layered by numerous fashion houses, keeping the trend alive, thriving an on-point.

Silhouettes Matter

Before you leap into this trend, there is one rule: keep it slim fitted on the bottom or else the silhouette can become extremely unflattering. Make the most of this powerful and sexy look by adding a thigh high boot to create maximum impact.

Sweeping and Dramatic

It’s been foretold from the fresh catch off the latest red-carpet saunterings that the capes are gonna be in trend, and they're sweeping and dramatic. Making them to be a seriously luxurious outerwear option, these added layers are spotted to be sheer, clustered with stones and diamantes or hybrids of half-blazer (Is there a word for that? A blape? A cazer?)

Making a Statement

Trust a sweeping or cropped layers to spruce up a placid, underwhelming outfit. Feathers, fringes and shifting organza make for exquisite choices for cape trimmings, trailing a flair of sophistication. They pair well with monochromatic attires too – black-out thick making for a lustrous addition to any wardrobe that ticks the crucial day-to-night box or a studded beige throwing glimmer and shade.

International Influence

At international fall 2019 shows, it was all about the cape coat. Designers zeroed in on the tricky item, serving up fresh new ways to wear the style most commonly seen during transitional months. There were the candy-coloured tweed capes hanging off the shoulders at Chanel; at Burberry, Riccardo Tisci showed wool capes that were striped and fringed, making them more of a statement piece; and at Celine, Hedi Slimane sent out a classic camel version that draped just below the knee. While the silhouettes were varied, the unified message was clear: it’s time to leave your sleeves at home.
