Should teenagers take a vitamin supplement to meet their energy level up?

The best way growing teens can meet their energy needs is by eating a healthy balanced diet, which includes plenty of whole grains, lean meats, legumes, fruits, vegetables and dairy products. This would ensure that they have high energy levels. I recommend this approach over taking supplements. Only if teens have a particular vitamin or mineral deficiency (vitamin D, iron, vitamin B12, or a number of others) would they experience fatigue and low energy. If a teenager is not eating a good diet, then a multivitamin can help meet those needs. There is no harm in taking one.

I am in my 50s and I am diabetic and have a heart condition. Please suggest a diet plan.

There is no one-size-fits-all meal plan, especially for those with chronic medical conditions. Meal plans must be created separately for each person based on their body’s needs (determined by your gender, age, body weight, height and activity levels) and medical condition. You must get a full nutrition assessment from a qualified nutrition professional before a meal plan can be designed for you.

I am in my late 20s and I have never taken vitamins/ supplements. I often miss meals due to work and kids and would like to start now. What should I take?

Your health should also be a priority so I advise making time to eat properly. It’s much better not to skip meals and focus on getting your nutrition through a healthy, balanced diet rather than relying on supplements. However, if you are unable to eat properly due to certain life circumstances, then yes, take a multivitamin supplement daily.

Is brown bread better than white if I want to practice clean eating?

Yes! Brown bread is higher in fiber content than white bread. Always go for brown (aka whole grain) bread. Fiber is essential for our digestive health, blood sugar control and weight management. •
