The Five

The Stolen Princess: Ruslan and Ludmila
Genre: Animation

This wonderful story happened in the age of valiant knights, beautiful princesses, and battling sorcerers. Ruslan, a wandering artist dreaming to become a knight, met beautiful Mila and fell in love with her; he didn’t even suspect that she is the King’s daughter. However, the lovers’ happiness wasn’t meant to last too long.

D-Day
Genre: History, war

Some people called it a suicide, but for the Rangers of the 2nd Battalion, that's another word for mission. When an elite group of American soldiers are ordered to take out a series of German machine gun nests, they find themselves blindly venturing into hostile territory.

Pina
Documentary

Legendary director Wim Wenders offers a moving portrait of his friend Pina Bausch, an internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer who died unexpectedly in the early days of the production of Wenders’s documentary. The members of Bausch’s company, Tanztheater Wuppertal, became Wenders’s collaborators, offering their own memories and perspectives of their mentor and leader. Shot in gorgeous 3D, Pina is unlike any dance performance you’ve ever seen: Rather than watching the movement from the audience, the camera glides in and out of the set pieces to place you firmly within the action.

Emily Heller: Ice Thickeners
Genre: Stand-up comedy

Ice Thickeners lives up to its name. Heller skips the small talk, diving right into topics like politics, exercise, therapy and more. While such content is nothing out of the ordinary in stand-up world, that’s not necessarily a drawback here. There’s a reason we all ruminate on relationships and mental health and the state of our world – they’re universal concerns.

Beth Hart: War in My Mind
Music album

Her first solo album since 2016’s Fire on the Floor is titled War In My Mind and it shall be the crooner of the month. Hart says: “More than any record I've ever made, I'm more open to being myself on these songs. I’ve come a long way with healing, and I'm comfortable with my darknesses, weirdnesses and things that I'm ashamed of – as well as all the things that make me feel good.”
