Minar-e-Pakistan is lit pink for PINKtober

Minar-e-Pakistan, the national monument located in Lahore was illuminated in pink lights for PINKtober (October) which is celebrated worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month every year. Pink Ribbon Pakistan’s CEO, Omer Aftab, said that illuminating Minar-e-Pakistan was an honour, as it has symbolic importance. “We are here to pledge that we will defeat breast cancer together as our forefathers once pledged to obtain an independent homeland,” he said. The colour pink is an international symbol of breast cancer awareness. This awareness campaign started to spread awareness, early detection and treatment for the disease. The campaign also seeks to raise donations for the Pink Ribbon Hospital, Pakistan's first hospital dedicated solely to treating breast cancer in Lahore.
