MAG Exclusive: “I would suggest critics to first watch the episode before passing judgements,” lashes Farhat Ishtiaq on Yeh Dil Mera’s critics

Well, this just took a dark turn. Drama Yeh Dil Mera starring real-life couple Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir amassed backlash and controversy after the release of its first teaser. According to critics, the teaser appeared to be promoting workplace harassment, insinuating angry, disappointed comments aimed at the cast and writer. One tweet read, “A man asking such questions in an interview is harassment!” Author and screenwriter Farhat Ishtiaq, whose romantic novels Humsafar, Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu, Diyar-e-Dil have made for commercially successful dramas, was quick to respond to the critics making a dig at Yeh Mera Dil, passing their comments as “hasty judgements”. Speaking to MAG, Farhat asserted “I would suggest everyone to first watch the episode than judge,” said the writer. “It's a romantic thriller. Our hero is dark. Story is not about workplace environment or people. It's entirely different,” she insists. We do agree that it’s too early to make judgements about a dramatic story with its first teaser, but with workplace harassment being such a sensitive issue, we do agree that we are a bit sceptic now!
