Need to look at your city with a fresh pair of eyes? This week, MAG is loving @mystapaki and you should too. In an exclusive chat, Bilal Hasan says, “I started my page back in 2012, honestly speaking it all started out of sheer frustration. I was sick and tired as to how Karachi and Pakistan were portrayed in the media. I am not saying what they all reported was false, I just felt like there was much more to the story than was being told. I wanted my page to act like an open window for outsiders to come and take a peek through to see what normal day to day life was like in Pakistan’s largest city. I like to focus on issues that are relatable to the everyday person like the city’s horrendous traffic, its obsession with food and the city’s love hate relationship with the rain. Now with time the page has evolved to encapsulate a bit of social commentary on Pakistanis as a whole. I want the page to act like a mirror where Pakistanis can regularly come, to either self-reflect or at times even laugh at themselves for a change, for outsiders I want it to be a place from where they can start to understand us a bit better, rather than relying on outdated sources.”
