Happiness is handmade

Firefly, founded in 2010 is a bespoke gifts and greetings brand. It produces creative, quirky and vibrant pieces inspired by life’s auspicious moments we all can connect with. Featuring a wide genre of items from stationary, to pretty albums, from funky wall art to novel textiles; Firefly plays it well with their tagline: The forecast is whimsical with a chance of rainbows! Over the years they have conducted numerous classes and workshops to teach arts and craft to enthusiasts who wish to learn and polish their skills. The Firefly girl, Varah Musavvir is the face behind the brand, passionate for creating stories with art. The Crafter’s Guild is their community initiative to work and support the local crafters with their handmade creations and to create opportunities for home-based crafters. They have worked with plenty of brands and labels through craft shows, vocational trainings and workshops. The prime feature is their craft shows, The Crafter’s Expo being the largest. The exhibition caters to hand-made work designed by local creators. Prior to the event the participants also receive mentoring and training workshop to understand how things work at the exhibition. Firefly recently conducted a workshop under its Mixed Media Artology series, which was attended by bloggers, content creators and representatives from different publications. Hammer and Smith, an aesthetically beautiful design studio proved to be the perfect location for the workshop. They specialise in designing and manufacturing various leather and lifestyle goods. The design studio also collaborates with companies and creative brands for workshops, lectures and pop-up shows. The process of creating from your own aesthetic and imagination is a great form of self-expression. The colourful mess participants made was all care-free and it only focused on creating something on our own to take a break from the panicking and busy routines that we face daily. Conversations and chit-chat in between were friendly interactions with complete strangers who came from different walks of life together for art. Followed by mouth-watering refreshments, the arts and craft workshop proved to be a real stress-buster for me. Art surely serves as a therapy to de-stress oneself from worries for the time being and just enjoy the moment of creating a piece which comes from the chaos of your mind.
