Google pays tribute to Iqbal Bano on her 81st birthday

The highly acclaimed Pakistani ghazal singer Iqbal Bano got her own Google doodle on her 81st birth anniversary. Google doodle honoured the singer with an illustration designed by an artist Samya Arif from Karachi. Bano was known for her semi-classical and Urdu Ghazals, songs and classical thumris as well as songs for films in the 1950s. Iqbal Bano's best and most famous work includes her singing of the ghazals of the great Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Bano is a recipient of the Pride of Performance medal which was awarded to her in 1974. The talented singer passed away in 2009 after a short illness.
