Moong Dal Halwa

Ingredients

· ½ cup soaked green lentil

· ½ cup ghee

· ½ cup sugar

· ½ cup milk

· 1 cup water

· ¼ teaspoon powdered elaichi

· 2 tablespoons roasted almonds

Method

Wash the lentil and grind coarsely, in a food processor or a grinding stone. Heat the milk to dissolve the sugar, bring to a boil and keep it hot till needed. In a pot, mix ghee and lentil, and stir fry over low heat till fried well. Add the milk mixture to the fried lentil and stir well to mix it all together. Cook over low heat till the liquid is absorbed, and once again stir-fry till the ghee separates. Mix in the cardamom powder and half of the almonds. Transfer on to a serving dish, decorate the halwa with the rest of the almonds and serve it hot.
