Deepika Padukone stands in harmony with the students at JNU

Voice of Justice

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to take part in a protest outside the university’s campus while she was in the city to promote her upcoming movie Chhapaak. The 34-year-old star joined the protest to express solidarity with the students after the violent attacks. More than 30 students and staff were injured in the violence stirred by a group of masked men as they stormed the university’s campus. Deepika’s presence in the protest led to the start of several trolls calling her harmony with the students as a promotional stunt. But several stars came to Deepika’s rescue to shut down the trolls. “No matter which political party you support, do u [you] support violence? Don't visuals of bleeding students and teachers shake you up? We can't sit on the fence any longer. Kudos to @deepikapadukone for showing up, & all those who spoke for speaking up. This is not the time to stay quiet,” wrote Sonakshi Sinha while supporting Deepika in slamming the trolls.
