20-20-20 rule for digital eye strain

“The eyes cannot see, what the mind does not know”

In this computerised and digital world, where everyone is busy on their cell phones, tabs and iPads; these devices have become a widespread phenomenon in the present time. These pocket-sized tools are no less than a mini computer. Not just the adults, this technology is affecting the children as well. But did you know what is the harmful effect of mobile phones on children? Eye strain and accommodative spasm are the two main effects these days. To overcome such issues I would suggest a Golden Tip to avoid eye strain, which is:

Rule of 20

1) After every 20 minutes, give your eyes a break and take them off from the computer.

2) Look away from your screen, outside your room’s window about 20 feet for 20 seconds.

3) Take a break after every 20 minutes for at least 20 seconds.

Once you follow the rule, you will feel much better because in this “rule of 20” we are relaxing not only our eye muscles but we give rest to our cerebral cortex (brain) hence improving our eye health.

Eye strain can also be reduced by modifying computer and cell phone settings; by enlarging font size, reducing screen glare and increasing contrast. Your eyes are precious, please take care of them.
