The bombshell announcement by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to “step back” from senior roles in the royal family and work towards financial self-sufficiency has created quite a stir. The couple’s decision received mixed opinions, some fans hailed them while other criticised them. One of the supporters of ‘Megxit’ includes the former wife of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Jemima Goldsmith. Goldsmith took to Twitter and voiced her support for the now ex-Duchess. “I don’t necessarily agree with the way Meghan and Harry have handled things but I know what Princess Diana went through and what it’s like to marry a national hero from another country and be attacked by the media for your ethnicity (too Jewish, in my case),” said Jemima, expressing empathy towards Meghan.
