60 SECONDS WITH SAFINAH ELAHI

A woman that branched into a few careers but found more of herself in one: a poetess. Authoring her debut collection of short poetry, Unbridled Romance of Love and Pain, is Safinah Elahi. With a firm belief in the power of words, she says “I have been writing poetry for a while. I just feel like it is an extension of my personality. Minimal words, more impact.” Getting in touch with her for a quick rapid fire, we can’t help but notice how good she is at expression. Take a look:

If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would it be?

Captain Planet. He could fix all environmental problems the world is facing today.

Do you have a useless talent?

I can move my ears without touching them.

“You are my inspiration.”

If you could be a child for one day, what would you do?

I would love to experience my firsts again. First time I knowingly traveled, first time at a water park, first time riding a bike. There is no wonder like a child’s wonder, where the world exists only in that moment. I would love to live blissful ignorance for a day.

Fridge magnets from all the countries I’ve visited!

What can turn the day around for you?

Rain.

Your favourite health care regimen?

Yoga twice a week and cardio thrice a week.

Tell us an embarrassing story

Earlier in my marriage, I suffered from a broken knee. With my cast on, I decided to go to a wedding in a saree, not realising there was no way to sit. I had to spend the entire evening standing.

If you could meet a person for the first time again, who would it be?

My husband, Danish.

A beauty product you swear by?

Obagi facewash which they have sadly discontinued. Also, sun block from the same company which thankfully is still available.
