Heads Up: You’re About to See the Airspace Haircut Everywhere
- 23 Mar - 29 Mar, 2024
With barely a beat to catch our breath, the past holiday season was exchanged for awards season. Fortunately, this award season came with much aesthetic inspiration, particularly in the beauty realm. From classic cues to of-the-moment detailing, the season served as an annual jumping-off the point for trends that are sure to continue as the red carpets keep rolling out. Glam eye shadows, dewy skin, daring hairstyles and bright bold lips were some of the hottest trends that were seen on the carpet. Check out some of our favourite looks.
A hairstyle plays a big role when it comes to putting one’s whole look together for an event. Gone are the days when long flowy tresses were a mark of femininity and elegance; lately we have witnessed celebs veering away from it and inching towards a much zingier look. The bob (or lob) haircut is officially in. Sana Javed ruled the red carpet at the PISA 2020 with her wavy long bob.
From the days of Cleopatra's bold coal-smudged eyes to Marilyn Monroe's subdued slant, a feline approach to liner is a classic that maintains modernity. From demure doll face to femme fatale, smoldering bedroom eyes to precise liquid lines, today's celebs are keeping the iconic cat eye alive. And Sadaf Kanwal is one of such icons to trace her eyes with thick obsidian ink that shape into a sharp point well past her temples.
No longer reserved purely for bad hair days or post gym, the slicked up ponytail is the super chic red carpet hairstyle that everyone is obsessed with. The key to Ushna’s slicked up ponytail? Place it right on the top of your head and bring your luscious curls forward to sit on your shoulders.
The Lux Style Awards’ red carpet featured many shades of nude lipstick, but a few dissenters stood out in versions of scarlet, both bright and deep. One of the night’s best pops was the crimson red worn by Sonya Hussyn. A power pout always looks classic, and darker hues are definitely on trend.
Matching your eyeshadow to your ensemble is a bold move – one few of us would dare attempt. Mushk Kaleem tackled the style risk, elevating it to red carpet trend status. She matched her stunning red gown with a metallic red eye. Red eye shadow used to fall victim to one of those old-school makeup rules – "never wear red near your eyes, you'll look tired/sad/like you have hay fever!" – but this year, we started seeing red everywhere, and it is everything.
Sarah Khan had on a barely there but beautiful makeup look at the PISA red carpet and if you look really closely you will see a hint of pink all over her face. Basically, everything – including contour, concealer, and shadow – is blended onto skin for a barely-there effect without any sharp angles or shapes. It's like a soft filter but better.
