60 SECONDS WITH ROSHANAY AFRIDI

In the age of social media, just making it to an A-lister runway show is not sufficient anymore to launch as a new face on the ramp. It’s the age of the unique, and those who prove to be eccentric, become the new young blood of the modeling world today in Pakistan. Roshanay Afridi is one such model. She has fronted campaigns and walked the runway for a staggering number of fashion brands. She doesn’t just know how to serve looks in editorials and prove her aesthetic by strutting down the runway, but also have looks and a personality that sets her apart from others. We asked the model to spare 60 seconds for us for a quick chat. Excerpts follow:

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?

Whatever It Takes by Imagine Dragons.

If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would it be?

Pikachu. [laughs]

Do you have a useless talent?

I can burp on command.

Best compliment you have ever received?

That I'm a very direct and genuine person. I really appreciated this since it came from someone I respect. It's important for me to be true to myself and not compromise my identity and morals for the sake of others/situations.

If you could be a child for one day, what would you do?

Wake up early in the morning, grab my furby and my barbies and watch Cartoon Network with my little brother and eat ice cream.

An item you like to collect?

Whenever I go to a different country, I get a fridge magnet.

What can turn the day around for you?

Seeing a cute animal.

Your favourite health care regimen?

Having matcha green tea and vitamins every morning.

Something you wish you had more time to do?

Watch series/movies. I still haven't had time to see Euphoria or You.

If you could meet a person for the first time again, who would it be?

I met Kim Kardashian at an event in LA, a lot of people were taking pictures and going crazy. We just said, “Hi, nice to meet you”. And then I left. I would want to meet her again.

A skin care/ health product you swear by?

I have a whole skincare routine but I would say the Truth Serum by Ole Henriksen is a game changer.
