Pakistan’s music industry has witnessed several singers with incredible talent and energy but not everybody earns fame as much as some have. Influenced and inspired the music world to a great extent, singers like Atif Aslam, Ali Zafar, Aima Baig and Momina Mustehsan have become household names in Pakistan. Although these singers need no introduction, MAG has compiled their achievements and contributions to the music world beyond borders.


Ali Zafar

Singer-songwriter, model, actor, producer, screenwriter and painter, Ali Zafar is the epitome of ‘having it all.’ Zafar started his career as a music composer and gained popularity by his single Channo which sold over five million copies worldwide. He made his acting debut with a leading role in the 2010 Bollywood satire film Tere Bin Laden, a moderate box office success. He then worked in several other Bollywood films alongside prominent actors. In 2018, Zafar finally made his big screen debut in Pakistan in a romantic action-comedy Teefa in Trouble, alongside Maya Ali. In 2013, he was voted the "Sexiest Asian Man on the Planet", based on a worldwide poll by the British newspaper Eastern Eye. His most recent achievement was in 2019 when he was awarded the Music Icon of the Generation Award by Shaan-e-Pakistan Musical Achievement Awards.


Atif Aslam

Internationally acclaimed and Pakistan’s most beloved singer Atif Aslam has recorded numerous chart-topping songs in both, Lollywood and Bollywood. Aslam began his career with Jal the Band and releasing the song Aadat in collaboration with Goher Mumtaz in 2003. He made his debut in Bollywood with Woh Lamhey in Mahesh Bhatt’s movie Zeher. Although not a frequent actor, he did make his acting debut with Pakistani social drama film Bol in 2011. His versatility bagged him a Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2008, the fourth-highest decoration given to civilians in Pakistan and he has also received numerous Lux style awards. In 2019, he was awarded The Dubai Walk of Fame-Star for being the ‘Best Singer in Pakistan.’


Aima Baig

Pakistani singer and scriptwriter, Aima Baig is best known for her work on the soundtrack of Pakistani rom-com Lahore Se Aagey. Baig is famous for not just her talents but also because she is a great mainstream trendsetter. The diva began her career in 2015 with a single Nane Hathon Me Qalam. Her song Item Number from Teefa in Trouble brought her nation-wide success. She has won several awards for her contributions in the music industry as one of the best-selling female artists in Pakistan.


Momina Mustehsan

The angelic voiced singer-songwriter rose to prominence as a co-singer and writer in Farhan Saeed's single Pee Jaun, and later sang the acclaimed song Awari for the Indian thriller film Ek Villain. Her claim to fame came later, when in 2016 she marked her Coke Studio debut as a featured artist in season 9, where she peformed a rendition of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Afreen Afreen, with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. In 2017, BBC named her one of the 100 most influential women, and the following year, Forbes featured her among its 30 Under 30 Asia list. Mustehsan’s most recent song Baari in collaboration with Bilal Saeed topped the music charts in the country.
