In Focus

During ancient times, people in Netherlands had to pump water from the ground to dry the land. For this purpose the traditional Dutch wooden shoes known as clogs or klompen came to use. These helped farmers and workmen to work on the sludgy, muddy terrain. Nowadays, clogs are a symbol of Holland and I saw a range of colourfully painted and carved clogs adorning the stores which clearly show that the Dutch still love and use these shoes.
