SAAWAN - ANOTHER PLUS

SAAWAN - ANOTHER PLUS

Shabash! These last months of 2017 seem to be giving our showbiz people one aizaz after another. First Mehreen hit it right, then Sharmeen won accolades, later a film on a brave Pakistani woman from a village in Sindh earned early points in a UK film festival, and now our current artistic venture, Saawan has been awarded. Farhan Alam, the director of the film, received the Best Foreign Film Award in the 11th Alexandria Film Festival in the American state of Virginia. He announced it himself on his Facebook account. Despite some misgivings about the film in the local press, there was a lot of praise for it in the local circuits. The film seems to have charmed the audiences of meaningful films. Sadly, there are hardly any artistic movies on the local horizon, and that’s why Saawan got the votes of the intellectual crowd. Last such films include Mah-e-Meer, Dukhtar, Moor, A Girl in The River: The Price of Forgiveness and a couple more.
