The world of beauty is officially obsessed with pastel hues! These light tones allow us to get creative without taking major risks. Unlike neons, you can easily manipulate the intensity of these colours, being able to create both subtle and dramatic makeup looks. The pastel star of the show RN? Lavender!

There’s no denying that lavender eye shadow look is one of 2020’s hottest makeup trends. A softer version of violet, lavender, is universally flattering when added to your makeup routine. And taking a cue from the huge popularity of soft pink shadows, we would wager that lavender eye shadow is here to stay. Ready to take part in this pastel purple eye shadow trend? We collaborated with talented beauty blogger and MUA, @ummehanimakeup, to help us create this blossoming look. Even if you don’t think of yourself as a “purple person”, give this trend a try – and read on for the makeup artist’s tips on how to rock a lovely lavender makeup look this season:

Step 1: Prep and prime

Do your usual pre-makeup routine: cleanser – toner – moisturiser – sunblock. Then apply a face primer to create an ideal canvas to hold onto whatever makeup comes afterward. I have used Toofaced Hangover 3 in 1 primer. Too faced primers are so light weight and they give a flawless finish to your foundation and skin. It makes my foundation stay all day long.

Step 2: Apply foundation

On my face, I have used La Girl Pro Matte Foundation in the shade Medium Beige. This foundation has to be my favourite among drugstore brands. It is a dupe for Mac foundation. If you want a long lasting and matte look this summer you’ve got to have this in your vanity!

Step 3: Create lavender eyes

In the mood to add some pizazz to your eye makeup look? Well, it’s time I introduce you to the lavender eye makeup. To create this look, I have used Huda Beauty Nude eyeshadow palette’s shade, Lace all over my crease and blended it with a fluffy brush. Tip: The more you blend the better!

Step 4: Get catty!

Fancy a gorgeous cat eye? Krylon Aqua eyeliner is one of the best gel eyeliners available locally. I have created winged eyeliner with the help of a pencil brush to give the purple lid a more defined look.

Step 5: Craft a dewy highlighter

To finesse a natural glow, I have used Becca Cosmetics Highlighter. If you love highlighters, you probably know Becca Cosmetics has amazing highlighters. I have used it in the shade Champagne Pop. It’s the best for our Asian skin tones and works really well on low coverage foundations too.

Step 6: Create a natural-looking contour

For contouring and bronzing, I have used Rivaj Cosmetics Contour Palette in the shade medium to dark. Their product range is amazing and so pigmented, a small amount on the brush goes a long way. Plus they are long lasting and super affordable.

Step 7: Seal it with a kiss

To add colour and texture to my lips, I have used ColourPop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in the shade Cami. I wanted a light purplish shade that would go perfect with the lavender eyes and this shade Cami looks totally in sync with my eyes. ColourPop lipsticks are so underrated. They are super creamy and buttery on your lips. They don’t dry out easily and stay on your lips all day long. I would highly recommend these. •
